Forestry trailers are specialized machines used in modern forestry. They are designed for transporting timber and other materials on difficult terrain. These forestry machines are equipped with cranes, allowing quick loading and unloading, which significantly speeds up the work. Key features of the forestry trailers include a sturdy frame, high payload capacity (from 5 to 15 tons), 2- or 4-wheel drive, and advanced hydraulic systems that enhance their functionality. They work in conjunction with tractors of different horsepower and are ideal for long-distance timber transport.
FAO FAR forestry trailers are distinguished by their modern design and durability, making them among the best forestry machines available on the market. Trailer models, such as the FAO FAR 1542, are equipped with cranes with a long reach and payload capacity suitable for a variety of forestry tasks. The construction of the forest trailers uses high-resistance materials such as HARDOX steel - ensuring long life and reliability. FAO FAR forestry trailers are designed to meet the requirements of even the most demanding users, ensuring safe and efficient operation in the toughest conditions.
Efficient and efficient machines designed to work in the harshest conditions.
Main design concepts: high level of work intensity, long life.
FAO FAR® offers models with a load capacity of 5 to 15 tons with FAO FAR® or CRANAB cranes with a lifting moment of 22-87 kNm. And range from 4.1-9.2 m.
The main priority when designing a new model is not the lowest price but the highest efficiency of machines, their reliability, and long life.
In detail, refined technical solutions, the highest quality materials, advanced, modern production technology and high qualifications of employees allow us to create machines that stand out significantly from other machines available on the market.
The trailers have a characteristic frame structure - the main frame is made as a one-piece structure, which includes: crane mounting flange, support legs, and the main suspension beam. This type of solution is used in forwarders and.
This type of frame should not be compared with the central frames associated with small trailers with a movable axle bridge.
The integrated frame also exceeds the two beams frames in every aspect. This type of frame is most often used by mass producers.
Thanks to this solution, we eliminate all the weak points of most common bolted or pivoted. The advantages of the integrated frame are: eliminating the stress generated during crane operation (even transmission of stress between the gripper and trailer wheels). It is possible to adjust the loading area to different lengths of wood (adjustable stanchion supports, the rear part of the telescopic frame), better access to the load from the lowest parts.
PNEUMATIC BRAKES - AN ESSENTIAL STANDARD
Pneumatic brakes are standard equipment, according to the homologation regulations in Poland, a properly calculated braking system is mandatory when traveling on a public road even without a load.
In FAO FAR machines, all elements from the pneumatic tank with valves to cylinders and pipes are well protected against damage during operation. Hydraulic hoses reinforced with steel mesh with 160 Bar strength are used for the construction of the pneumatic system. Optionally, a hydraulically operated braking system can be ordered.
BOGIES WITH A SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION
Bogies with a specially designed shape, strengthened in the middle, narrowing in the direction of the axles. The advantage compared to the bogies made of regular rectangular closed profiles is their "streamlined" shape, they have a higher clearance, they slide better on high stumps, in deep ruts in boggy terrain.
FLAP DOWN SUPPORT LEGS
Flap down support legs with wide opening angle and large foot surface perfectly stabilize the machine even in muddy terrain. Max opening over 60 cm below the ground level, equipped with hydraulic locks as standard.
Strong cylinders with hydraulic installation are hidden behind the protection screen, fully protected against accidental damage.
The set of support legs is moved back about 50 cm from the crane axis, which significantly improves the stability in the crane's oblique and parallel positions.
The upper mountings of the support cylinders are located on the top mounting plate of the crane. Thanks to this solution, stress transfer in the front of the frame is reduced
(crane attachment never breaks). Following CE requirements, all FAO FAR trailer models undergo stability tests performed by an external testing unit.
For the efficient use of heavy trailers in the toughest off-road conditions, we recommend the BLACK BRUIN hydraulic drive in 2 or 4-wheel hubs. The auxiliary drive is powered by the LS control system. A variable displacement load sensing pump guarantees maximum traction at any speed without loss of energy. Optionally, a whole range of additional hydraulic fittings and dedicated electronic controllers are available to allow any configuration of HD drive control.
Radial piston motors are the best solution for forestry trailers drive system. The drive starts immediately after pressing the button (front/rear), while during driving without using it it does not generate resistance, there are no moving elements except bearings, it does not generate oil movement in the installation. The tractor can move at speeds up to 50 km / h.
The system uses a crane pump fed from the tractor's PTO shaft. The whole assembly is located on a trailer, which allows quick aggregation with various tractors. Currently, approx. 70% of trailers with loading capacity above 10T is ordered with HD drive.
The BLACK BRUIN system has an advantage over mechanical drives, e.g. with a chain or gears driven directly from the tractor's PTO shaft.
While driving without using the drive (70-90% of the time) the mechanical drive moves the whole set of gears that wear out and generate resistance.
The mechanical drive uses the rear PTO of the tractor, then a special aggregate mounted on the front of the tractor driven from the crankshaft is needed to use the crane. In addition to the costs, another con is the assignment of the tractor to the trailer, without the possibility of switching tractors.
Backlight beam on models 1142–1542 integrated with the frame telescopic extension. The lighting is well protected during operation. In order to secure lighting 100%, the S355 material is used. The socket has a thickness of 10 mm and lamp holders 8 mm.
WARNING!
Rear, front clearance and side lighting are made in accordance with the law regulations in Poland.
A telescopic frame with manual or hydraulic length adjustment is standard for models 1142-1542. Depending on the tonnage, the frame length is 4.1 m - 4.6 m + 0.85 m telescope.
The standard on the 942 and 1042 machines is a 4.6 m fixed frame, and the optional 3.9 m + 0.85 m telescope.
Fao Far 6073 and 5472 are the new generation heavy forest cranes. In combination with FAO FAR 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15-ton chassis, we get a perfect set for "PREMIUM" forestry work.
Uncompromising design and the best materials combined with the quality of FAO FAR production exceeds the expectations of most demanding professionals. The main functional features of the new cranes are excellent efficiency, speed combined with the harmony of movements and service life unattainable for most machines in this segment. The main design features are a solid swivel mechanism with a 190/180 mm diameter core and a 120 mm wide sliding sleeve, the structure is entirely made of high-strength "STENX" and "HARDOX" steel, arms with large cross-sections welded in the middle - the smallest stress zone, multi-layered joint plates, hardened pins with large diameters, large sliding plates in the telescope, hydraulic hoses with a diameter of 1/2" well protected inside the main joint and rotator link, a new generation symmetrical gripper with an area of 0.25 m2 and 0.23 m2. FAO FAR 6073 and 5472 cranes are powered only with advanced control systems with LS (load sensing) system with a variable displacement pump 0-230 l / min.
Appropriately selected joint geometry combined with the precision of the control system ensures constant speed and smoothness throughout the entire range of crane movement. The excellent ergonomics of the entire machine contribute to increased productivity, and smooth operation allows to eliminate the overload of the crane structure. Designed using the latest software. Design and technology are consulted with the Welding Institute and the engineering staff of the implementation department of the manufacturer of high-strength STRENX steel.
The new FAO FAR 4768 crane with a 6.8 m reach with a telescopic boom (1.4 m) and a lifting moment of 47 kNm has replaced the 4367 model, which has been produced for 6 years. A number of design and material changes have been made to the well-known and valued model 4367. The standard four-cylinder column transmission sank in oil, wide-angle boom joint, vibration damper and gripper 0.22 m2. The structure is made of high-strength STRENX 700 steel. Arm joints and hydraulic cylinder mounts are extremely strong. Large diameter pins, wide sliding sleeves and multi-layer joint plates allow for a significant extension of service life and reduction of operating costs. The machine is not "slimmed" in any way. The set with the smallest chassis 942 weighs, depending on the equipment, from 3050 - 3350 kg. Thanks to the use of a number of additional hydraulic accessories, it was possible to achieve fast and smooth operation of the crane. Hydraulic hoses are well protected against damage. Hydraulic system with large cross-sections, hoses and connections for 1/2" cylinders. Rubber hoses are hidden inside the wide-angle joint, and the steel tubes of the second boom are protected by an additional casing. The hydraulic cylinders are also well protected, the telescope cylinder is inside the profile, the main cylinder is inverted in such a way that the damage-sensitive piston rod is always behind the trailer protection screen. All hydraulic connections on the cylinders are located in such a way as to eliminate the risk of the hose hooking and tearing during operation.
The reinforced structure and increased cross-sections of the hydraulic system lead to the use of fast control systems, including HRLS "load sensing" with a pump capacity of 123 l / min. Currently, over 50% of the cranes of this model are equipped with LS control system.
The main design features are a solid swivel mechanism with a 190/180 mm diameter core and a 120 mm wide sliding sleeve, the structure is entirely made of high-strength "STENX" and "HARDOX" steel, arms with large cross-sections welded in the middle - the smallest stress zone, multi-layered joint plates, hardened pins with large diameters, large sliding plates in the telescope, hydraulic hoses with a diameter of 1/2" well protected inside the main joint, in a special cover on the telescopic boom and inside the rotator link.
Body of the new generation symmetrical gripper with an area 0.25 m2 or 0.23 m2 is made entirely of STRENX 700 material, while the jaws are made of HARDOX.
Screwed directly to the rotator, hydraulic hoses are routed inside the gripper and the link in order to minimize the risk of damage during operation.
The swing damper is standard equipment.
The wide jaws ensure better wood grabbing and holding.
Currently, most of the medium and 100% of the large machines are equipped with advanced LS control systems. Variable displacement pumps with flow up to 230 l / min in combination with LS manifolds perfectly matched to each crane model exceeds the expectations of customers.
The systems have a large range of speed regulation of both each section individually and the acceleration and deceleration of the entire crane. The system allows for perfect calibration according to the operator's skills and the type of task that the machine has to perform. This type of hydraulics has slightly higher requirements from the service staff, but besides the efficiency and comfort of work, the LS system protects the machine against errors or bad habits of the operator.
The system is equipped as standard with an efficient oil cooler with automatic control against overheating.
Great PTO shaft speed (above nominal speed) does not increase the speed of work, at the same time they are not harmful to the system.
Smooth movements with adjustable (limited) lowering speed in combination with a gas shock absorber eliminate unnecessary overloads (especially during a sudden stop when lowering the load).
An advantage for the owner is also the limitation of failures related to the interference of employees or operators in the factory settings of the hydraulic system (valves cannot be boosted).
ELS - mini joysticks
Electronic mini-switches mounted in the armrests control the manifold with the LS system (system with a variable displacement pump).
The system has the ability to electronically calibrate many parameters of each section. And a dual-range switch for a quick change of crane speed, of course, I and II gear can be programmed in many ways to match the operators' skills and needs.
Crane boom movements, gripper, and the telescopic boom are controlled proportionally and the support legs by an ON-OFF switch.
The electrical installation has hermetic connectors enabling disconnection of the tractor without dismantling the joysticks.

HE - 2 electric sections flow 80 l / min. Regenerative sections allow faster operation
Hydraulic aggregate with variable displacement piston pump with LS system cooperates with advanced HRLS, ELS and PVG32 control systems.
The high-performance pump (up to 230 l / min) connected to the massive gearbox placed in a solid housing mounted on the drawbar.
The drive is transmitted from the tractor PTO through a shaft with one or two wide-angle joints.
As the only trailer manufacturer, FAO FAR individually designs a drawbar for each client. Thanks to this, regardless of the height of the hitch on the tractor and the size of the wheels in the trailer, after connecting with the tractor the trailer frame will be perfectly horizontal and the length of the PTO shaft will always be optimal.
The basic hydraulic aggregate with a cast iron gear pump cooperates with STD HE and HR manifolds.
For each type of crane, by choosing the right gear ratio and pump size, the optimum aggregate performance is obtained at a low engine speed of 900-1200 rpm.
The system is equipped with high-quality non-woven filters, a large oil tank and an additional safety valve on the pressure line.
OTHER OPTIONAL TYPES OF HYDRAULIC UNITS
The oil cooler is mandatory equipment for high flow LS systems.
The cooling system has a sensor that prevents overheating in the event of pollution of the radiator or fan failure.
The solid housing with a dense mesh filter protects the radiator and makes it easier to keep it clean and in full working order.
The modular design allows quick assembly by the user on any type of FAO FAR crane.
